Has the issue about the Nikon d5000 been resolved?
“If you’re a Nikon D5000 owner, listen up immediately. Nikon has released a service advisory regarding this model’s power sources.
Symptoms of a potential problem include:
1. The camera cannot be operated when the power switch is on, even with a fully-charged battery.
2. The camera cannot be operated with the EH-5a AC Adapter connected through the EP-5 Power Connector and the power switch on.
Nikon will post potentially affected serial numbers on July 23. For more on the advisory, visit Nikon USA’s website.”

You answer your own question, they issued a service advisory and Nikon will fix the cameras. At least then didn’t wait 2 years like a certain manufacture did the the 5D.
If anyone that register their cameras with Nikon would received a E mail regarding this matter, so there’s no need for you to do it here.
